We are looking for the most creative, enthusiastic and road safety aware students in Ireland to show us, and others, how to cross the road safely!
We are inviting Primary School students across the country to take part in our Safe Cross Code Dance Competition. Jack and Annie love making sure that their friends know how to stay safe on our roads and the Safe Cross Code dance is a fun way to learn how to cross the road safely.
Last year, schools from all across the country created dance routines for the Safe Cross Code Dance Competition. Against some tough competition, Castletown Girls School in Dublin, Co. Louth were our English category winners and Scoil Mologa in Dublin. were our Irish category winners. See their videos here.
So, we want students to show us that they know the Code by performing the Safe Cross Code dance routine in English or Irish and sending us a video of their class doing the routine! You might have seen the Safe Cross Code routine already, but just in case you haven’t, you can see it here.
What can your school win?
There are some great prizes to be won, including:
- 30 x 7 inch electronic tablets for the Overall Winner in each category
- Special engraved awards for the Top 5 schools in each category
- A €200 voucher for the teacher of the winning class in each category
How to get involved:
It’s really easy to enter – all you have to do is record your class doing the Safe Cross Code dance and email the video as an MP4 file with the Safe Cross Code entry form directly to safecrosscode@rsa.ie by 5:00pm on Friday 17 May 2019. In your entry form include a short description of your dance routine and some details on how your school actively promotes road safety. You’ll need to include the name of your teacher or principal, class, school roll number and a contact number with your entry.
Don’t forget to get parental consent for each child featured in your class video!
